Throughout his career, Wolfgang has continued his own education with top trainers. In the early 1990’s he had an opportunity to work with Herbert Rehbein. He returned to Germany in the late 1990’s with Dr. John Kirklin’s horse, Nexius, to train with Jean Bemelmans.
Wolfgang resides and trains in Birmingham,AL. He trained and rode under the tutelage of many great trainers before coming to the US over twenty years ago. Wolfgang has trained multiple horses to FEI levels including Grand Prix.
Wolfgang is a fun, positive trainer who works well with all levels of riders and horses. He is patient with a beginner and yet can really help advanced rider/horse combinations too.He won’t push you beyond your comfort zone, but you will find yourself taking away something to work on for next time. More than anything – he is fun and a good teacher.
Wolfgang does a great job with younger horses, schoolmasters and also has helped many of us get ready for shows. His regular riders are doing really well at local shows and at regional championships.
We encourage you to ride as many months scheduled as you can, to become a “regular rider”. Wolfgang will help you work through the issues you may be faced with.
“We feel that he is one of the finest teachers of dressage that we have known. His idol was the late Herbert Rehbein. Scherzer works with students at all levels. He competes at the FEI levels and keeps up his own education by working with top trainers when he can find the time. He is extremely positive, enthusiastic and thoroughly dedicated to teaching strong basics.”
